IMO experts join inaugural class of Fellows of the American Medical Informatics Association

Dr. Andrew Kanter, Chief Medical Officer and Dr. Jonathan Gold, Physician Informaticist, were recently inducted into the inaugural Fellows of the American Medical Informatics Association (FAMIA) class of 2019.

IMO is pleased to announce that Dr. Andrew KanterChief Medical Officer and Dr. Jonathan GoldPhysician Informaticist, were recently inducted into the inaugural Fellows of the American Medical Informatics Association class of 2019They were among a cohort of 130 AMIA members who were honored for applying informatics skills and knowledge to their workplace, demonstrating leadership and professional achievement, and contributing to the betterment of the organization.  

“This credential is the new hallmark of applied informatics professionals,” said Douglas B. Fridsma, AMIA President and CEO, in a press release. Professionals who brandish FAMIA signal to patients, employers, and colleagues that they are steeped in evidence-based practice and engaged with a community of life-long learners who apply the latest advances in informatics to improve health and health care.” 

The ceremony, held in Atlanta, Georgia, was part of the AMIA 2019 Clinical informatics Conference where clinical informaticians, developers, and health IT funders gathered to learn and explore a variety of issues from evaluating and applying population health information, to new patient engagement methods, to enhancing system usability.  

“Recognition of both past accomplishments and ongoing efforts as a member of the IMO team in healthcare informatics is exciting and humbling,” said Gold. “IMO’s vision to improve the quality and flow of health information solidly aligns with the AMIA community’s focus on accelerating healthcare transformation.”
